E-File Individual Income Tax Returns
The State of Hawaii is a participant in an Internal Revenue Service program that allows taxpayers to electronically file their federal and state income tax returns using approved tax preparation software or authorized tax professionals. Individual Resident Income (Form N-11) and Individual Income for Non-Residents and Part-Year Residents (Form N-15) returns can be filed through the software products or tax professionals approved for this program. Please contact vendors directly for any problems you encounter with their products or services.
E-File with Hawaii Tax Online
Hawaii Tax Online is a new Department website that currently supports general excise; rental motor vehicle, tour vehicle, and car-sharing vehicle surcharge; seller’s collection; transient accommodations; use; and county surcharge tax types. It will provide taxpayers and practitioners with 24/7 access to account information, notices, and returns. Filing taxes and making debit payments through this system is free. Hawaii Tax Online will support additional tax types each year based on the progress of the Tax System Modernization Program. Note that all taxpayers must register and create new Hawaii Tax Online accounts before using it for the first time.
E-File with DoTax.eHawaii.gov
You can electronically file select state tax forms and make payments through DoTax.eHawaii.gov. This existing system, sometimes referred to as ELF, will continue to be available for tax types that Hawaii Tax Online does not support. It will also continue to support tax types that have been recently moved to Hawaii Tax Online until the end of the transition calendar year. Filing taxes through this system is free, but it adds additional fees to any tax payments. Note that login information for this system is separate from usernames and passwords from eHawaii.gov and Hawaii Tax Online.

Use HBE to file a single application to register a new business with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA), apply for various types of tax permits/licenses/accounts with the Department of Taxation, and register for unemployment insurance with the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR).
Hawaii Compliance Express (HCE)
